New Film by Josh Fox, Director of Gasland
THE SKY IS PINK from JFOX on Vimeo. And of course, the industry-funded PR frontgroup ANGA has its own take on it. I'm not going to boost their google rating by linking to it, but I will say this: the gas industry's $$$ certainly does buy good PR people. If you take the time to read through their spin, ask yourself - do they really answer the questions raised? How much of that is by the same process that Josh uncovers in this video, where they say something else often enough and hope you believe it?

Native American Perspectives
|
Made by "Reel Change for Nonprofits" participants Tracy Basile and Scott Halfmann of WESPAC and Friends of Turtle Island. Scott and Tracy were participants in the spring 2010 "Reel Change for Nonprofits" class at the Jacob Burns Film Center's Media Arts Lab. The Unfractured Future brings Native voices to the forefront of an urgent issue in New York State. The natural gas extraction process known as hydraulic fracturing threatens our water and our future. The film urges all to envision an unfractured future together. It offers perspectives rarely heard in the American environmental movement or in mainstream media today.

All Fracked Up
|
About the Movie
Jeff and Jodi Andrysick are farmers in the Town of Pultney, NY who were woken up to the issue of hydrofracking when Chesapeake tried to locate a deep injection disposal well in their town in 2009. They spent their own savings to make this film. Looking past some of the cheesy skits, this is Gasland for Pennsylvania and NY, featuring interviews with many of the affected residents and experts.

About the Film
Split Estate is an Emmy-winning (2010) documentary about the effects of gas drilling out west, zeroing in on Garfield County, Colorado, and the San Juan Basin. It is a clarion call for accountability, and examines the growing environmental and social costs to an area now referred to as a “National Sacrifice Zone."
"Split Estate" refers to the discovery of many landowners out west that they do not own their mineral rights, and have very little say over the drilling. Thankfully, here in NY landowners retain their mineral rights, and can choose not to lease. However, the impacts to air, land, water, and community depicted in this film are quite relevant to the hydrofracking proposed for NY. |
